EasyLink Bed Seizure Alarm

Product code: MP5

The Medpage MP5 is a simple to use alarm that detects movements resulting from an epileptic seizure on a bed, which is also suitable for people with diabetes to detect seizures caused by low blood sugar levels. During the seizure the movements are detected by a sensor that is positioned underneath the bed mattress. As the movements continue the control console, after an adjustable period of delay, transmits a radio signal to the receiver to draw attention to the seizure. This allows for normal movements during sleep and minimizes false alarms. The MEDPAGE range of epileptic bed seizure alarms will only detect seizures when there is limb movement during a seizure.

The MP5 is primarily for use in the home but can be used in care homes and hospitals if only one patient is to be monitored. The MP5 console is powered via a mains AC/DC power adapter with battery back up. Two sensors are provided, a bed sensor that detects movements resulting from a tonic/clonic seizure and a microphone to monitor aural sounds. Each sensor has a level control to enable the sensitivity to be accurately set. A delay timer control can be adjusted so that normal movements during sleep are ignored. If movements are only slight or if the person weighs less than 20Kg a second bed sensor can be fitted instead of the internal sound monitor microphone. All models now feature full system battery backup.

The MP5 is supplied with a receiver that can be up to 200m from the bed monitor console. The receiver operates from two MN1400 C type batteries and has a high/low volume switch and a built in xenon strobe to enable silent alarm mode. A LED flashes when the batteries require replacement. Average battery life 4-6 months.
